Iain Tetley - Musical Director and Conductor

Iain came to New Zealand in 1997 after completing his music degree at the University of East Anglia, and studying with opera singer John York Skinner. With a remarkable vocal range Iain has sung many of the major tenor roles in works by Bach, Handel, Mozart, Haydn and Rossini as well as that of the baritone soloist in Carmina Burana, and he has also performed as a bass soloist several times.

Ian specialised in conducting while at university, and in 2008 he combined three choirs and eight soloists with the St Matthews Chamber Orchestra at the Auckland Town Hall, in the Auckland premiere of The Armed Man: A Mass for Peace by Karl Jenkins, which drew a standing ovation from the audience. South Auckland Choral Society looks forward to continually raising its musical standards under Iain's expert tuition.
